Remember back when Canadian born Jeremy Wotherspoon received a title in the Guinness Book of World Records for his record-breaking 500 M. sprint on ice in just 14 minutes and 22 seconds? It was about 11 years ago. Well, it seems like Mazda might have taken a cue or two from Wotherspoon's deft speed skating capabilities. For, they've opened the 2011 motorsport season on Swedish ice.

Mazda has revealed a special-edition car at the Chicago auto show to commemorate producing a record-breaking 900,000 units of the world's most beloved two-seater. Simply coined the 2011 Mazda Miata MX-5 Special Edition, it celebrates the MX-5's lengthy history of engineering, non-discriminating price, and generous suit of luxuries. To add to the exclusivity for owners, there will be only 750 units produced.
