Mazda Exceeds Fuel Economy Expectations with the 2013 CX-5

We've been excited for the 2013 Mazda CX-5 for some time now. But recent news from Mazda has us even more excited for it to hit the showroom floor here at Airport Twin City Mazda. What's that? Well, the Mazda CX-5 has officially achieved best-in-class fuel-economy with an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway.

Back when Mazda released preliminary details for the CX-5, they had pretty high numbers for the fuel economy. There were many people out there unsure if the automaker could reach it. But, we're proud to say, with the help of SkyActiv technology, they've done it! And yes, these numbers represent the best in the CUV class.

How'd they do it? Well, like we already said, with the help of SkyActiv technology, an efficient 2.0-liter engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Although the automatic transmission lowers the fuel-efficiency a bit, it still comes in at an impressive 32-mpg highway. The CX-5 is also available in an all-wheel drive variant, which lowers the numbers just a bit. Not that it makes much a difference when you're starting with the best fuel-economy available to start with.

But that's not the only exciting thing about the CX-5. Even with those impressive gas-mileage numbers, the CX-5 delivers a respectable 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. It also boasts a 2,000-pound towing capacity, which, when put together with the all-wheel drive system, will have a little bit of something for everyone, with no compromises on performance capabilities.

Ready to get behind the wheel of a gas-sipping CX-5? It's set to roll into the Airport Twin City Mazda showroom at 3076 Airport Highway Alcoa, TN 37701 later this spring. With that in mind, be sure to check back with our blog and new Mazda inventory on our website for the latest model updates.
