Ten Mazda Models Head to the Tokyo Auto Salon

Here in the United States, we wait all year for the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, where custom cars and aftermarket parts take the stage. Over in Japan, enthusiasts eagerly await the Tokyo Auto Salon, which takes place in January, and where automakers yet again gather to show off their customized vehicles. Not that we're any less excited for this show than we were for SEMA in October, particularly because Mazda has announced that they'll be at the show with ten custom cars.

Of these ten, we're expecting to see special editions of the new CX-5, roadster and the RX-8, as well as some exciting developments with their SkyActiv technology. We're already waiting patiently for the new CX-5 crossover, but we can't wait to see what the Japanese automaker has in store for this model. Rumor has it that the customized model will feature a lower ride height, matte-black alloy wheels and sharp red exterior paint.

Other tricked-out vehicles set to debut in Tokyo include the Mazda Roadster Black Tuned, fitted with BBS wheels, Bilstein height-adjustable shocks, Brembo brakes with gold-painted front calipers, and Recaro seats. The RX-8 Spirit R, the final edition of this classic Mazda, will arrive in Tokyo with 20-inch BBS rims, Brembo brakes and lower ride height. Mazda will also show off two tuned-up Mazda2 models, a Mazda3 Sport 20S SkyActive, and a Mazda5 20S Prestige Style.

You won't find any tuned-up new Mazda models here at Airport Twin City Mazda, but you can check out the all-new Mazda3 with SkyActiv technology, and in February, the 2013 Mazda MX-5. Be sure to drop us a line via our website to arrange a test drive or learn more about any of the upcoming Mazda models.
